 English

English will be embedded within our Catherine Called Birdy Unit for the first couple months of school.  We will be doing various research projects which require write-ups as well as journaling on a daily basis.  All of the work they turn in for any subject will be expected to contain complete sentences and correct grammar/punctuation. We will have mini-lessons each week on various English skills which I will look to see encorporated into their writing projects.  Below are the descriptions and rubrics for the writing projects.

 Spelling

In Spelling we are working on spelling patterns and word groups.  We have studied synonyms, antonyms, and are currently studying homophones.  We will continue to study different word groups building a knowledge base in phonetics and vocabulary.  We have a test each Friday over the words we study throughout the week. Please remember to study as once they have been taught and tested you are responsible for knowing how to spell and use the words correctly in your writing!
